What Is a Backorder? A backorder is an order for a good or service that cannot be filled at the current time due to a lack of available supply. The item may not be held in the company’s available inventory but could still be in production, or the company may need to still manufacture or order in from the supplier.

about 3 – 10 days

How Long Do Backorders Usually Take? Though it depends on the company and product, backordered items generally take from 3 to about 10 days. The customer pays for the item, and then the company or supplier is responsible for keeping them updated on the delivery timeline.
Fish tanks that are on back order can take up to 10 days to receive but other products like pumps, filters and other items can take anywhere from about 3 days.

In the event that the supplier is also out of stock of the back ordered item we will contact you and arrange an alternative or refund you in full.

When ordering fish that are listed on back order the process works as follows.

Week 1:  Monday – Sunday, we take fish orders

Week 2:  Monday we place order with supplier
Week 2:  Wednesday we receive stock and notify customers that stock has arrived.

If possible we send out fish Wednesday – Thursday or the 3rd week Monday.

In the event that we do not receive a species of fish ordered we will refund for that fish.

In the event that you only want to see items that are currently in stock on our shelves you can sort the site to show in stock items first and back order items last.

To do this on any page select the filter button located on the top right of the homepage or products pages and select “sort by availability”.

Once selected the page will refresh and the results will be in stock items first,  then backorder items
